Fundraising

Donations

As a registered not-for-profit, the Shambhala School relies on the generosity of our community—past and present—to sustain our programs and ensure we remain a welcoming and inclusive space for all. Your contributions, whether through monthly donations, one-time gifts, or participation in fundraisers and events, have a direct and meaningful impact. Your support help us continue our joyful work of nurturing well rounded, courageous young people.

We have two year end giving campaigns that we hope you will consider supporting and we also welcome donations at any time of the year.

Giving Tuesday Campaign – Dec 3rd, 2024

This year’s Giving Tuesday Campaign will focus on growing our community of monthly donors. These contributions play a vital role in supporting our diverse extracurricular and co-curricular offerings such as our Girls’ Volleyball Team, Battle of the Books, Brick club, Lego robotics, debate club, drama club, gaga ball and more. These programs open doors for our students to try something new, build confidence, and connect with peers. Your support ensures these opportunities continue to grow, enriching the Shambhala experience for all students.

Annual Giving Campaign – December 2024

Each December, we reach out to our community and ask for support of our school so its unique culture can continue for our children and those of future generations.  The need to cultivate the mind and the heart is important now, and will only grow in the coming years.

Your Support Makes a Lasting Impact

There are a number of areas that would benefit from your support and we are eager to match your support to the area that matters most to you.

Student Bursaries

Each year, more families are drawn to Shambhala School because of our unique approach to education—a place where students are encouraged to grow, explore, and discover their path in the world. However, not all families are able to afford full tuition.

Thanks to the generosity of our families, alumni, and community supporters, we are able to provide financial assistance to deserving students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend. This support changes lives by creating a safe, nurturing environment where students can thrive.

Your contributions also ensure that we can hire and retain the best educators—dedicated professionals who guide and inspire the next generation—and maintain our historic building, which has been a cornerstone of the community for over 100 years.

By supporting Shambhala School, you are investing in a brighter future for our students and helping sustain a learning environment where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. We are deeply grateful for your generosity and the incredible difference it makes.

Building

Shambhala School is proud to call home a historic building over 100 years old, recognized as a registered heritage property in Halifax. Preserving this architecturally and historically significant space is an important part of our commitment to the community. From maintaining its structural integrity to ensuring it remains a safe and welcoming environment for our students, the list of needed upkeep is long. If you are passionate about heritage preservation, we would love to discuss how your support can help us protect and celebrate this landmark for generations to come.

Inclusive Education

We also understand that every donor has unique priorities. Perhaps you’re passionate about inclusive education and want to explore opportunities to make learning accessible to all students, or you have ideas for programs and initiatives that could further enrich the experience of our school community.

Special Interest

As a small, independent school, we are always looking for ways to improve and adapt to the needs of our students, families, and the greater community. If you have a special interest or would like to explore specific ways to contribute, we would be delighted to talk with you. Together, we can create meaningful change and continue to make Shambhala School a place where students thrive.
